So last night was my first night in a real bed in a room by myself since leaving here, and man did it make a difference. It's the first time since I left that I actually managed to sleep the whole night through without waking up. However I was then rudely awakened about 7am by Fenella and Cecily - they thought it would be just hilarious to smack me round the head with pillows! They had been in and out numerous times apparently and thought I was just dozing, when I was actually still in deep sleep, so apparently my face was picture and I almost jumped clean off the bed in fright. After a wake up call like that I was never going to get back to sleep, so I got up and had some breakfast.
I spent the rest of the morning messing about on the Internet and stuff a bit, then started sorting out my kit. I took everything out the car and cleaned it up or sorted it out where needed, and stacked it up neatly in the garage.
Everyone was at school or work until later in the afternoon, so I made myself some bacon sarnies lunch and then got all my washing sorted out. This wasnt actually as bad a task as it could have been; everything was 'clean' of mud etc (mostly) and just sweaty so I chucked it all in the washing machine in 2 batches, hung it up later and I was laughing.
Later on in the afternoon everyone got back, and we got all the kit together for the camping trip tomorrow. As it is only for 1 night it doesn't require too much organisation, but the tents etc needed to be got out and sorted all the same. Fenella suggested I drive up there too as its only an hour or so away, that way I can sleep in the car and don't need to worry about camping.
We stopped for a cup of tea and Fenella and I were talking about Bali, and specifically the VISAs you need to be there. I didn't really know what I needed to do, so we got her guide books out and looked into it:
It turns out its a faff, but you can buy a 30 VISA when you enter the county ($25 and your done..easy) and get it renewed another 30 days when the first 30 days is running out (not so easy, but possible!). I then checked how many days my flights put me there...64 days, DAMN.
Now my only options are the following;
1) stay 30 days, book a flight out of the county to somewhere close and cheap...kill the excess 4 days, and fly back in for the last 30 days. (The most realistic option).
2) somehow change my Singapore-Bali return flights so I either enter or leave the county 4 days later/earlier, and go down the renewal of my VISA issue. However I think the chances of me being able to change the flight dates are slim, as it's a EasyJet style super low cost airline...looks like the nievety of being a 1st time traveller to Indo has caused me a ball ache of a problem here..
Later in the afternoon I started going through my stuff, some of which I had left here and the rest I had taken with me down the coast. I have seperated out the stuff I don't want to take to Bali with me, and will send home instead. Most of it is paperwork I need to keep hold of like my Instuctors qualification stuff and banking stuff etc, but there is also a few bits of clothing I won't need.
In the end we had fish and chips for dinner, then all just chilled out watching the Aussies V South Africa cricket on the TV. I also spoke to Fenella quite a lot about Bali which was useful.
I went to bed about 9:30pm super tired, but need to try and make up some of the sleep deficit for the last couple of weeks!
(Photo - weather forecast for the next few days, pretty warm! Camping in hot weather like that should be all time!).
