Today there was predicted to be a small clean swell around, and no wind first thing in the morning, so I got up super early for a surf. I was on the road down to Caloundra by 6am, and in the sea by 6:45am.
As predicted it was really small, but due to it being over cast and drizzly first there was absolutely no wind, and it still hadn't picked up by the time I got out.. It was great to be back in the water again, I really enjoyed it.
I cant wait to sell my board that's at the shop (whether it is for how much I am asking for, or otherwise) and get the one I have put the deposit down on, im a bit bored of surfing my old not very good one..
It was also the first time I have got my dreads wet, but the sea did them good. The salty water helped them bond together well, but I have quite a few stray hairs which have got out of the dreads, making them look a bit furry.
I was on my way home about 10ish just on the outskirts of Caloundra, when I was pulled over (again) by the Police. Due to the big biker group in the town for the weekend they had a spot check point set up on the side of the road manned by about 15 officers. Sure enough as I was about to drive by the shepherded me in. The proceeded to not only alcohol test me, but drug test me too. Although I had absolutely nothing to worry about, I was still suuuper nervous when the coppers were talking to me.. 5 minutes later as expected both came back negative, and I was free to drive home and 'have a nice day'. Thanks mate.
To be fair they were actually quite nice blokes really, having a bit of a laugh and asking me about the surf, but it's annoying to be targeted simply because I am a young bloke (and now with dreads).
When I got home I did very little with the whole rest of my day really. The wather wasn't great so I didn't want to go and climb the mountain I have been waiting to do, and most my car stuff is sorted.
In the end I just sorted out some photos and got my NetBook up together, as soon it will the the only PC I can use again!
In the evening I spoke to Ed Parker on Skype, which as always was really good. He seems happy all moved back into uni and stuff which is cool, I still think i made the right choice to carry on 'living the dream', uni will be waiting for me next year..
