This morning I woke up just before 7am despite it being a Sunday, my body clock just wakes me up early all the time. I rolled out of bed and quickly had breakfast, before going down to Currimundi for a surf.
When I got there it was a slightly messed up/choppy swell, but breaking alright about 2/3ft max. I surfed for about 2 hours, and although the old board I was using wasn't very good for the conditions, I still had fun. I think the water is noticeably warming up now too, which is nice.
From there I went and got some food and checked into the surf shop at Dicky Beach. Unfortunately I was overly hopeful about how quickly my board would sell - looking at the at the 'used boards' rail in which mine was sitting it was clear it's going to take a while. There are so many boards in there at the moment..
I then went off to 'Home Central Kawana', which is a big shopping village where I bought heaps of stuff for my car/travelling. First I got the all the material for the car's curtains, and the wire they will hang from. Then I went to the big outdoors shop 'Anaconda' and bought a whole selection of torches/lights...and a hand/Hawaiian sling spear (for a bargain $20!).
Having got my stuff I came home for lunch, then set about working on the car. In a couple of hours I had put in all the screw in curtain wire hooks, and cut down and prepared the curtain wires (all that's left is to hang the curtains on them when I have made them from the material). I also managed to make a simple internal board rack, by just fixing some small ropes on the inside up near the roof, which the boards can be slipped into.
I then went off with the family to a BBQ/chill out afternoon at the local park and cricket pitch. It was really good fun to get out and see some new people. We played a big game of casual cricket most of the afternoon, then just sat around chatting over some beers later on.
In the end it got a bit cold to BBQ there, so we came home and BBQ'ed here instead...and ate inside.
Afterwards we started watching a movie, but I only watched a little bit of it, before going off to Skype home.
It was really nice to catch up and chat to mum and dad, as it always is. Just the general keeping them up to date with all my plans and what's going on etc. Everything seems to just be the same old same old with the brothers back to school and everything.
I was in bed kankered again by 9:30pm, hoping for a good sleep before starting another (and potentially my final) week at work..
