Day 44 Fruit Picking -
Back to work today then, being a Monday and all. I'm fed up of saying 'it's getting busier and busier' each week...but its true. Greg had to get 2 new pickers in, who started today - a Vietnamese couple, who seem very nice, despite struggling a little with their English. They are keen to get involved in conversations though, unlike the Germans, so all is good there.
We have now also started doing an extra half an hour at the end of the days starting today, in the hope we won't have to work over time on a Friday again, but we will see. All in all im just happy to be racking up more hours, despite the hard work.
At the end of the day I stayed on for an extra half an hour and picked the patch Greg is yet to spray and kill off. I picked about 5-10kg of perfectly good fruit and then left. I dropped round Kelly and Rich's to give them half the fruit on the way home, as Kelly wants to make it all into jam. I hung around and chatted for a while, Kel gave me lots of her organic veg etc to bring home in exchange for the strawberries, then I came home for tea.
When I got back I had a shower etc as usual, then started doing price comparisons for Singapore - Bali flights. I then spent all evening deciding and booking the flights up, so that is all sorted now! It was about $320 all in, for 25kg suit case + 25kg sports luggage for my boards etc return flights. I must admit it was more expensive than I hoped, but that was the cheapest deal going so that's what I have got. Plus it's all sorted now and I don't have to worry about it.
Once I had sorted that I just made me lunch for tomorrow, and went to bed exhausted about 9:30pm.
