So today was my first day off having finished work on the farm, and it was sooo nice to have a bit of a lay in! I slept until I woke up, about 8:30am, when everyone else was up and about.
Having had some breakfast I then had a very productive morning - first I rang one of Mark and Fenella's family friends (who I have been introduced to) who owns and runs a pineapple farm. I asked him for a job for next week, but unfortunately being such short notice unsurprisingly he is fully staffed. However he did say if anything comes up at all he will give me a ring.
Secondly I rang the Prawn Boat fisherman to see if I could go out on a trip on one of his boats. As they go out for 3 days at a time I can't go next week while the family is away, but I go could go on one trip before I go off road tripping. I need to ring a few days before the family are home, then he will let me know. I really hope that all comes together, it would be a fantastic experience!
I then set about finding out what the situation is with my 2nd Holiday Working VISA. Having read the info on the government website I was still none the wiser, so I rang them up instead.
It turns out if you have done 3 calendar months at the same employee signed on full time, then that is sufficient time. The 88 days business ONLY applies to people on casual work, doing for example 2/3 days a week on and off. If only they felt like telling everyone that on the website!
Anyway, I was extremely relived and genuinely over the moon to discover I will now be able to qualify for a 2nd VISA sometime before I'm 30.. I will go and sort the paper work with Greg when he is back from holiday, the same time as the family here.
Having sorted all that out, I spent the rest of the morning lounging around in the sun by the pool just chilling out.
Later I had lunch and headed into Caloundra to go to K-Mart, as Mark was telling me about how they have just about everything, super cheap. I must have spent over an hour in there, and sure enough they had everything I needed at bargain prices. I got a duvet, sheets, all the cooking pots and pans etc, plates etc and more.
It was stil lovely and sunny, so I went to go and check the beaches just out of interest. I went down to Moffat, as it is often the most sheltered and Fenella had recommended the costal walk around the headland to Shelly Beash. There was swell around as predicted, but gale force northery winds were just making it unrecognisable
Instead of just coming home I decided to do the walk, as it was only about 45 minutes in total and it was a little while till sunset. It was a really nice walk and I tried to get a few photos on the way round to remember Moffats by and show people back home.
I got home just after dark to find I didn't have the water Jerry can and Esky I thought I had got at K-Mart in the car. I was so pissed off with myself, mainly because I never do that sort of thing, and I had absolutely no idea how I forgot them! Having looked at the receipt I had bought the jerry can and just not put in the trolley, as for the Esky god knows?! I guess as the trolly was brimming I just didn't notice the fact they weren't in there when I left the store, as I didn't drop them.. Oh well, I have thought of couple of other things I need to go back there again and get anyway, so I will have to buy them next time..
In the evening all the family was out and about doing bits and pieces, so I made my own tea and just watched TV all evening. I watched the Bourne Identity film which I Havnt seen in years, and was still surprised how good it was!
