Today was a much more chilled day after the relative business of yesterday.
I woke up about half 7, and just led in bed catching up on the surf reports and Facebook etc on my phone. When I got up and made some breakfast etc and fed all the animals, then watched all the highlights of the next stage of the Quik Pro France.
About 9am when it had warmed up I went down and led by/in the pool just listening to music and reading the last of my surfing magazine in the sun. It was really nice just lounging around in the sun, with nowhere I needed to be or think about. It's a hard life.
I decided I would go down to Caloundra and Kayak across to Bribie Island in the afternoon, so had an early lunch. When I looked on the veranda thermometer at 11:30am it said 28 degrees, not bad!
I managed to get the Kayak in the back on the car (what a wagon!) and also chucked in my Wettie and spearfishing kit, figuring it was as good'a day as any to have my first go!
It was just as beautiful weather down on the coast, but with a sting Northerly Sea Breeze blowing due to the temp, which fortunately you are sheltered fro when on Bribe. The paddle across was a bit like hard work with the tide just pushing up to high, and the wind driving you in the wrong direction.
When I got where we set up camp the other week though it was beautifully still and warm in the sun. Unfortunately due to having had some rain over the last few days there was much more colour in the water than last time, making the snorkelling/spear fishing very difficult. I did find 1 Flathead, but unfortunately it would have been very marginal to if it was big enough, so I just watched it rather than having a go shooting it.
It was quite fun swimming about trying to find stuff, but the combination of high tide, strong current as it went back out and murky wager meant I didn't see much.
Having given up fishing I went and walked along the beach on the ocean side of the island, taking some photos etc which was cool. Having done that I went back to where I left the Kayak, and just sat on the mini beach watching the boat etc go by, before come back about 4:30pm.
When I got home I sorted out all the wet kit and stuff, then fed the chickens and the horse, then sat down with a few beers and watched the live stream of the Quiky Pro. The surf they are getting is insane.
I had a tea, had a shower and actually fully 'dread shampoo'd' my hair for the first time (yuck) and went to bed.
