Day 28 fruit picking -
This morning I got in the car to go to work at 6:40am, and I had to scrape ICE off the windscreen!! I was told later it was the coldest night for 60 years or something mad like that.. As you would expect, it was pretty cold picking strawberries on soaking wet plants.
The most eventful thing that happened this morning was that Spud managed to eat some rat poison, so Greg had to rush him off to the vet. Fortunately they made him vomit it all back up and he was back to his normal self by lunch.
We made really good progress picking before smoko at 9am, and then actually finished picking the whole farm by 12, lunch. Most of the pickers then went home, but I went into the packing shed and packed the punits of fruit into the cardboard boxs until about 2pm when all the farms fruit had been packed.
I came home and checked the surf report, which said it was a smaller than yesterday and possibly a little windier, but it was such a beautiful afternoon and I had loads of time I went anyway. I went to Currimundi, but up by the lake about 1km north of where I had normally been going.
When I got there it looked perfect! A fun 1-2ft and dead glassy, breaking on defined peaks, which was so refreshing.
Despite it being really small I had the best surf (other than the 1 where I broke my board) since I have been here. I had so much fun, and for the first time in ages I wanted to stay in the water as long as possible.
I surfed for about 2 hours till sunset, then got out and found a message from Mark on my phone saying they were at Kelly and Rich's house for a goodbye party for the Chileans. I came home and had a shower etc, then met them at the party. If was really nice evening, sat round a camp fire eating party food.
The Chileans's flight is at 2am so the evening finished by 8pm so they could all get some sleep, so everyone came home.
When we got back we just watched some Olympics on TV, then went to bed.
