Day 27 Fruit Picking -
Standard work routine as usual. It was even colder again this morning, setting a 4 year record by dropping to 4.6 degrees!
Again today the morning went quickly but this arvo dragged along.
Tonight there is a $50 million lottery prize, so we all entered together at work and got a bit excited about what we could do with our winnings...I.e. not pick strawberries!
I came home and was pleasantly surprised to find the surf was better than expected, the wind had miraculously died leaving the conditions quite good.
I went down to Currimundi, which looked ok from the beach, so I ran down the beach to a 'good' peak and paddled out. Once again it was no where near as good as I was hoping. I starting to get pretty disheartened by the surf here, the beach breaks just so rarely seem to be worth the effort.. Although I must remember I an lucky to be working in an area it is possible to surf!
I came home when the sun went down having taken a few photos, as it was quickly getting a bit cold again.
When I got home I rang up the boys down in the Sydney to just catch up and have a chat, as I hadn't spoken to them other than Facebook since we separated.
As expected their plans have all changed - they have the flat till October earliest (due to the contract), and Havnt managed to find any full time and well paid jobs. As a result they are just hoping to stay there as long as possible and save all their money, then go to Bali Jan/Feb 2013 without doing the coast..
That has obviously ended any ideas I had of meeting back up to them and travelling the east coast, but I will hopefully see them in Bali. I also hope to go down and stay with them in the flat when I have finished working at the farm..
After speaking to the guys i had dinner and watched some Olypics on TV with a couple of beers. Later on I spoke to Ed on Skype for over an hour, just catching up with home and telling him about my plans etc. Its always good to speak to home - it's strange it actually stops me thinking about home very much, as I feel like I'm up to date, and really am never missing much..
After I spoke to Ed I caught up with a few more friends on Facebook, then went to bed.
