Day 13 fruit picking -
The morning started rather eventfully when I was driving to work and I almost hit a huge Kangaroo as it jumped across the road right in front of the car. Fortunately I avoided it, or it could have been pretty serious.
It was then a pretty horrible day at work too - there had been so much rain (and showers while we worked) that all the patches had got a couple of inches of mud in, for us to have to try and push our trollies through.. Despite it being hard work, the day seemed to go pretty quickly which is always nice.
When I got home I had a cup of tea with everyone, and then decided to check the surf cams just incase.. It turned out there was some good surf to be had and the wind had stopped, so I chucked my stuff in the car and went straight to Dicky's Beach.
I actually ended up best surf I've had since Bryon Bay with the guys! It seems to the a very 'sucky' sandbank so everything breaks into very shallow water, and it quite often creates fast sandy barrels.
It was a solid 3-4ft and super crowded so you had to hassle for waves, but great fun all the same.
I got out and left to come home when it got dark, and was half way home when I was forced into the wrong lane of a dual carriage way. As a result I ended up on a motorway heading away from home! I then followed SatNav's instructions to pull off the motorway 'at the next left', which I did...12km down the road.
Things went from bad to worse - where SatNav had sent me was actually a 3km long forestry, rough gravel, track in the middle of nowhere! By this time it was pitch black and there was thick mist.
Long story short I was sent on a wild goose chase round deserted, and very scary, back roads and SatNav was as lost as I was.
Eventually I stumbled across 2 houses in the middle of nowhere. I chose the least scary/creepy looking one and knocked on the door. To my relief they were really nice people and told me how to get home, drawing me a little map and everything! I eventually I got home, a little more stressed out than after I got out the sea.. A 15 minute journey actually ended up taking an hour and a half!
Due to the kitchen floor being varnished again, we were going to Kelly and Rich's for tea. They also had Maddie's Chilean, Maddie's friend and her Chilean round for dinner. Everyone had a really fun evening, making pizzas for tea and playing ping pong and pool. Unfortunately Fenella missed out as she stayed at home with her bad tooth making her pretty unwell, but the rest of us had a great time.
We eventually got home about 10:30pm and I went straight to bed as I had to be up early for work the next day.
