This morning I got up at 5:30am to see off the family, as they were leaving for the airport super early. It was very strange waving them off, from their own house which I am staying in without them!
Once they had gone and I had sorted everything, i.e. feeding all the animals and had breakfast etc, I went off to put my posters at the hostels I had found.
First I went to the 2 I had found in Maroochydore. All I had to do was wander in, stick the posters on the pinboards and leave again so it didn't take long. I then went to Mooloolaba, 5 minutes down the road back towards Caloundra, checking the surf at Alex Headlands on the way.
The Hostel in Mooloolaba I went to was actually the one I had stayed in with the guys when we first arrived on the Sunny Coast. It was really strange walking back in there, by myself, and it brought home how much had changed since I have been up here!
Having done that I went back down to Alex Headlands for a surf. There was a strong southerly wind blowing, but the small headland was sheltering the beach. I went out and surfed for about 2 hours, and actually had a surprisingly good surf. Eventually the tide went out too far and it was just unsurfable close out barrels onto the shore.
I got back to the car, to find I had a bloody parking ticket. I was in a genuine bay, parked perfectly well and hadn't exceeded any time limit. It was for parking facing the wrong sodding way...it really pissed me off as 1 I didn't know that was a law, and 2 it was pointless anyway!
Having had my packed lunch I drove down to Caloundra and put up my posters in the last hostel local hostel.
Then I went to the Department of Transport, where I had got my licence a few weeks earlier. I had to wait ages due to loads of OAP's on their days out in there, then got to pay my $44 fine for the privaladge.
My last stop before going home was my second trip K Mart. I think I have actually got everything I need, and remembered to bring it all home with me...result.
When I got home I faffed about on the Internet watching the highlights of the Quik Pro Hossegor going on at the moment, then started making meatballs for dinner.
Before it got dark I went to lock up the chickens and feed Harley, and realised a chicken was missing.. Assuming it was in the paddock somewhere and it would be alright till tomorrow I came back to finish cooking dinner. I then saw Moose taking a lot of interest in the flower bed, and as it turned out he had chased the missing chicken in there! It was on the verge of death via shock, so I locked it in the utility room with some food and water for a few hours.
It was a bit better later on, so I put it back in the chicken house and hoped or the best...we'll see if it's still alive tomorrow. I sure hope it is though, or I will have a pet fatality on my hands in the 1st day of house sitting!
After dinner I messed about sorting the vast amounts of paper work im aquiring, and spent quite awhile maintaining the dreads.
