Day 41 Fruit Picking -
Today was just another day at work. It was pretty hot and quite humid actually, making it seem like hard work. The last hour before lunch seemed to be a particular drag.. By the end of the day we just about finished picking the farm for the first day, after putting in extra hours for 2 days.
The last patch we picked had a lot of 'small' fruit, which is now worth very little at sale in the shops. As a result it's not cost effective to sell it, and we (the fruit pickers) could keep all the small fruit for free! I came home without about 3kg of perfect condition strawberries.. Bonus! Obviously we won't ever eat them all, so I'm going to have a poke at making jam, as it's meant to be super easy... Diggor is taking the piss and calling me a Grandma though.
There is some bad news about work though - with the price of the fruit falling if signals the time at the farm is limited. As soon as its worth so little Greg doesn't make a profit in a week, we will all be finished. Then the strawberries from down in South Victoria come in for the summer.. That will obviously mean my job is finished, and I'll will be on the hunt for work again. I have a couple of contacts in the pipeline, including a pineapple farm and potentially a Prawn Trawler boat..so we shall see what happens!
When I got home from work as usual I did w*** all. Just messed about playing FIFA with Digs and went on the Internet. After dinner we all watched 'Farmer wants a wife' on TV; such a good programme haha!
I had a nice surprise looking on Facebook this evening - Mojo Spot X have uploaded a selection of photos to their FB page...and there are 3 photos of me instructing on lessons with a couple of the other guys and clients! I was stoked with that, as I didn't have any photos of me instructing at all..
