Day 118: 29/12/12
Today's plan was to go and spend Shane's voucher!! I had a list of things I needed to get for New Zealand, mostly toiletries and some clothes. I did we'll as most things were cheaper than normal. I got everything I wanted with the money on the voucher. Admittedly there's no money left on it now!
I couldn't get a camera strap in the shopping centre- they come with the cameras and don't sell them separately. My one seems to be on its last legs so I better hold onto the actual camera when taking a photo! I also couldn't get anthisan cream. The bite cream I had from the tropical medical bureau is nearly gone and it isn't that good anyway. I seem to be getting bitten everyday now somehow. I asked in the chemist for it and she even looked it up online for me to see if they had anything with similar ingredients, but she said she never saw one with an antihistamine in it. I bought something else that sounded good anyway. Hopefully it will be a bit colder in New Zealand so I won't be bitten!!
The other thing I needed was shorts and trousers. I thought I would get one pair of shorts as mostly all I have are white 3/4 lengths. I also needed full length track suit bottoms or combats or something as its going to be cold in some places. I only have one pair of track suit bottoms, everything else is shorter. I got shorts anyway in a very cheap shop as I don't think they'll be getting too much wear! I searched everywhere for full length trousers but unless you want jeans they are fairly hard to get- they all have 3/4 length track suit bottoms and leggings over here in the sports section! I ended up going to Kathmandu which is a travel wear shop. I had looke in there before and it was really door, 159 for a pair of trousers! Also most of them only went to a 16 and didn't look like they would fit. But I went back there as a last resort. There was a good sale on some of the items an I found one pair of kinda combat trousers that are a bluey grey that were down from 159 to 69 and even though they were a 16 they fitted! The fabric was sort of stretchy but I was still excited when they fit! I don't know when I last bought a pair of 16 trousers so I had to buy them- they do look nice aswell though! That was the biggest excitement of the shopping! Last week I bought an 18 fitted 3/4 length trouser in there and they are tighter than the 16 so I am sure the sizes are arseways!! But still!!
I came home shortly after that. The only other thing I had been thinking of sortin out was wifi roaming or roaming for my Australian phone and it seems they would both cost a fortune! Even to receive a text it costs a lot. So I think I'll be leaving the Australian phone behind and just hoping for free wifi along the way!
After heading home I was bored again. The two in the house are away all week so it's really quiet. I walked down to southbank and saw that Wreck it Ralph was just starting in the cinema. It's a kids film but it was funny. Ill have to stop going to the cinema- but it's one of the only cheap things and its something to do!
When I came back I went looking for photos of the wedding. Claire and Emma had just put some on Facebook and I looked on that wedpics website. Thats a great idea! All the photos look lovely. Can't wait to see more. Interesting comment under the one of Shell and Shaun- who was writing the comments?!? They better wait until August anyway!
As you can tell I had a lot of time in my hands writing the blog this evening! In sure ye really wanted to know the ins and outs of my shopping!
