Day 59: 31/10/12
No call this morning. I started to look up other schools to go to with cvs and then I thought maybe I should contact some job agencies instead. I found some numbers on the Internet and I rang them and explained my case! Most of them didn't have anything to offer me unless I was willing to work weekdays, which at the moment Id prefer not to do. One agency had early child care temporary work that they hold interviews for every day. She said they have a lot of teachers doing that while they are waiting for work. She seemed to understand the situation perfectly and even told me if I was choosing between a day in a primary school or a day in early childhood to pick the primary school as there was more money! She booked me in for an interview on Friday so that I could get set up doing that work. I had already given her my details and then she sent on a list of things I would need for the interview which included an up to date cv which I didn't have as they all have the old address! I got on to Mike again to see if he could print out a few more for me and he did! He's as good!
I went to a Catholic school with my cv- I had that one ready last week and couldn't go. The Catholic eduction office was beside the school so I called in there to talk to them about jobs and stuff but it turns out the employment people are in a different part of the city altogether so she just gave me their phone number. I rang them later in the day but they didn't have much to offer. She said everything happens through the website- they don't know how many teachers get work or anything. I already have a profile on the website so there isn't much more I can do there.
I had to go into town then to buy trousers I could wear to an interview. Luckily there's a Dunnes type shop which has a bit of everything and I got one that would do. The heavens opened then and it started lashing rain- I got soaked going back to the house! I dossed around for a few hours and then I got a call to work Friday which was good! I had to ring the child care agency back and there was no problem there, I can do the interview next week some time.
I went over to Mikes house then to get the new cvs. There's no major rush now with the interview cancelled but better to have them! I spent a while chatting to them and then went for food with them.
When I got back I realised it was the last day of a sale on the trip to New Zealand I was thinking of doing. I spent a few hours comparing prices and trips and things and eventually I bought one of them. It's mostly the transport and you can change the dates any time so I'm not tied down too much. The main decision was what length tour I would do! I was afraid I would miss out on stuff!! It was late by the time I was finished that, hence why the blog was late!
