Day 86: 27/11/12
Today I was with the year 5/6 class. In the morning they were all mixed up with two other classes to work on their maths so it was hard to figure out who was in the class. Like yesterday they were working on ahead on their own Maths. After that they did spelling work in pairs. This was just my class so at least I could figure out their names! They don't really have a classroom, just an open area they sit in and there was no roll so it was hard to figure out if they were all there or not!
We were coming and going all day anyway. They had performing arts, Italian and swimming so it was busy busy. We only had about 15 minutes in the class between those. After second break the whole school gathered to go through a practice for the performance they are doing next week. Most of this class had no clue what they were doing. The younger ones were okay.
It was a but of a chaotic day as I felt I didn't even know who should be in the class. The teacher was knocking around all day though so it was grand. Im there tomorrow again and they have a load of activities too. I did talk about Ireland for a while today an they had ltd of questions that I said I'd answer tomorrow. So I spent some time this evening finding pictures of food, sports, places, etc. Knowing my luck we won't even have time to do it!
In year 5/6/7 it seems to be all about working independently. It's good in theory to get them ready for secondary school. But, a load of them did nothing today! They might do more with their real teacher, I don't know!
I got paid today. Only one weeks wages seems to be there. Hopefully there's a lot more to come in the next pay cheque. They did say that it takes time sometimes to set up the contract, so hopefully there won't be a problem with it.
I didn't do much else this evening. The PowerPoint on Irelabd too ages as the pictures wouldn't paste for ages!
