Day 92: 3/12/12
I was up waiting for a call this morning and I decided I'd text Laura for her birthday. When I was texting a call popped up and because I was pressing buttons I cancelled it. I was raging! This Craic where ya can't ring back is crazy! That was around 7am. About a half an hour later I got a call to work Thursday. I explained to that person what happened with the other call and one checked that I was still down as available. Around 8 I was thinking I'd have to go with the childcare instead, but I thought I'd give it another few minutes. Thankfully I got a call at twenty past 8 to work at 8:45 and the school was about half an hour away! They knew I wouldn't be there till nearly nine anyway so it was grand!
I did a bit of rushing and got a taxi. I got there in time. He asked me how much did I think if would be as his meter wasn't working. I knew from another school that I'd been to that it should be close to 50 so I said 40 and he said grand! I was kicking myself then that I hadn't said 30!
When I got there the kids were waiting for me and class had started. They were year 2's. There was no work left or anything and books and pages all over the teachers desk with no head nor tail to it! So I figured out their names and got them writing about their weekend. Then I realised I needed to go the toilet! I'd been drinking water all morning waiting for the call and when I had got one I rushed out the door and straight into the classroom! Eventually I had to ask the woman next door to keep an eye on them while I ran to the bathroom! She wasn't impressed as she was only minding that class while the real teacher had taken a group from both rooms out. She knew by me though that I had to go so she came around! I apologised again at break and she seemed to be okay! The journal writing took ages so we just did a small bit of maths and a maths addition game. The teacher next door had taken out seven kids for most of the morning so it was very quiet!
After break they had to paint paper plates with the other year 2 class to use as props for a concert they are having. Then we had swimming. Then it was lunch time!
I had duty at lunch in the basketball court. Most people there were playing handball. They play it in a lot of schools. The ball is like our handball. Four people stand in a square and hit it back and over and if you miss it you're out and someone else gets in. There seemed to be other rules too about the way you hit it and how many bounces were allowed and stuff. Ill have to figure it out! You don't need a lot of space to play it which is good!
After lunch there was only an hour left so I got them doing skjd handwriting and then we chatted about Ireland and the tin whistle and ratlin bog got another outing! They loved it! They were good kids. There were a few boys that looked like they could be up up devilment but harmless fun I'd say! I handed in my cv anyway so hopefully if they've any more days ill get a call! I hadn't had a new school in a few weeks so it was nice to get another one!
I had to go to the shopping centre near Shane to get back home so I text him to meet him big he didn't know what time he's be finished. I wandered round the shops looking at Christmas decorations! Then I decided to have food. I waited til 6 and figured he was busy so is just go home and then at five past he text to say he was just home! Bad timing!! Ill have to catch up with him again another day!
I didn't do much for the rest of the day. Just sweated!!
