Day 81: 22/11/12
I spent ages yesterday typing up the blog. I'd lots to say about the kids in the school and being asked to stay on for the rest of the week. It froze when I was putting it up and then when I got back into it everything I had typed had vanished! I'm bit a happy camper! At the weekend I might have time to write it all again!
Today was much better anyway! They didn't have any specialist classes so we didnt have to rush anywhere. In the morning though we worked in a different room as the preps were going to use our room. The change of scenery suited them. We did some circle time about Christmas and then did some drawing and colouring- an abstract flower design!
After break I put them into groups and had them all working on different activities for about fifteen minutes and then they swapped so the all got to do all the activities. I made sure they were easy enough today so there was no major drama! Still an odd hard thing! I said I would let the best group pick from the prize box the teacher has and it worked a treat! They were as good as gold trying to impress me!
At second break one of the bold lads was taking people's hats and they all had a big argument, there was some cursing going on and he flung bark (which is all over the ground) at them and one lad for a bit in his eye. If was a decent size bit of dirt- it had to hurt! So we had a bit of drama discussing that!! He settled down eventually and joined the rest if us. The teacher on duty had written out a behaviour notice after what happened at break and I noticed his surname (I had only looked at first names on the roll). It's a common name around our parts: W_rd and it explains a lot!! He told me yesterday I sound like us Granny who's Irish. In hindsight maybe that's not a good thing!!
The lad that was rising the others yesterday was out today so I don't know if they would have been as good if he was there. We'll see tomorrow! The rest of them were bribed with certificates and prizes all day!! Thankfully, it worked! When there's noone acting up, they are a lovely class!
I didn't do much this evening. I was wrecked after the busy days teaching but it was also late when I went to sleep last night. So I'm going to bed early and Ill have to get up early in the morning and find something else to do with them!!
