Day 61: 2/11/12
Up bright and early to make sure I got the bus at seven! There's only one bus out there in the morning. The teacher had shown me the work yesterday so I didn't have anything to do really. I only had the class in the morning as they had sport after that. The deputy principal had threatened them that they would miss sport if they were misbehaving and it worked! They were fine. A lot of cheeky people- girls especially but they did what they were told with no major dramas! They liked puzzles so that kept a few of them going! The teacher had left spelling and reading. They are in groups for that and it looks like half of them do nothing in their groups! As long as they weren't messing I didn't care!
After first break four classes and the four teachers went to sports with some other girls. There were five teams to play games. I ended up being the coach on the sideline for girls AFL. There were two girls teams, the first was hammered, second one won. I couldn't believe how bad the girls were. These were aged 9-12 and they could barely catch or kick the ball. Lots of them were standing chatting, even cheer leading while they should have been playing!! It was interesting being on the sideline when I didn't know their names. The other teachers were with the boys teams. They didn't seem to do much though and there was always a lot of kids not playing- nobody was minding them. They were near enough to me so I kept an eye but I couldn't really leave the game either. The principal appeared as it was the last day of games and she was wondering who was minding the people that weren't playing- I'd say someone will get in trouble for that!
We were back to the school with about forty minutes left in the day and the kids were allowed to just sit outside and chat until home time. The good thing about that is I could leave as soon as the bell rang. I had already left my information with the office in the morning so I was good to go!
I got the bus back into town and then another one to the house. Kate, the girl in the house came home and I was chatting to her for a little while and then she had to go out again. I was wrecked this evening! I watched some tv and then went to bed early!! I'll be glad tomorrow morning that I don't have to wait for a call!
