Day 108: 19/12/12
I had until half 12 to get to work today so had a nice sleep in! There was a Christmas card here for me in the morning from Mam and Dad! I don't know if it was posted the same time as the birthday card or not but it only got here now.
After waiting ages for buses I got to the childcare centre. It's a small place. There were only 15 kids today as some are gone on holidays and they are all age 3-5 which suits me perfectly! As long as they can talk its fine by me!
Straight away I was put cleaning the toilets and mopping the floor. They were having a nap for about two hours so after cleaning I just watched them, made sure they were all okay. After that they ate lunch and then they went outside. They were playing outside for about two hours and most of them went home during that time. We went inside around 5 and there were only three girls left. I was put hoovering and bringing in the washing. They were all gone by half five so we got to go early. I don't know if Ill be able to write six on the time sheet or not. I'm back there tomorrow so well see!
I had to wait ages for a bus in to town. I would be as well of if I had finiShed at six. I got the bus into the centre of town anyway and the Christmas parade was just starting. I knew it was on every day this week and I was intending going at the weekend. I think I missed some at the start but I saw a lot. There were lots of dancers (from a Billy Barry type place!) dressed as angels, presents, elves, cards, etc. there was a girl being carried on a high platform- not sure if she was supposed to be the Angel Gabriel or a star. We had Mary and Joseph on a real donkey. The shepherds with some real sheep and three wise men on camels no less! There were acrobats and singers in the middle of all then. Santa led by real reindeer finished up the parade! There were lots of kids around. It was cool to see them all excited. Oh there was a group of people in beach clothes aswell with a barbecue singing an Australian version of jingle bells with no sleigh or snow. I must look up the words!
The parade led down to King George Square and there they had a stage where they put on a pantomime. It was about two baddies trying to steal the drum from the little drummer boy. Santa comes when he hears the drumming so if they didnt save the drummer boy and his drum Christmas would be cancelled. Luckily it all worked out okay!! It was good fun. The characters had English accents though which was very strange! They sang a few songs aswell and managed to burst into Gangnam style at one stage!! I might come back another evening and see it again- get into the Christmas spirit.
After that I went home, so no other news!
