Day 67: 8/11/12
I didn't get a call from the teaching agency so I didn't need to worry about letting one of them down!
I went to the childcare centre for 8:30. They didn't seem to be expecting me and didnt really know where to put me so I don't know why they asked for someone from the agency! I was supervising outside for a while in the morning, playing with a few kids. Then I was going between the nursery and the toddler room relieving people who were going for lunch. I did art with one crowd, then they had lunch so we fed them and cleaned up. After that they went to sleep for two hours so there was nothing really to do. There were about two workers called educators in each room. They have to meet curriculum targets and there were lots of pictures and worksheets around the room for things they had done. If you worked there full time there would have been a lot of planning you could be doing but for me, there wasn't a whole lot. I told them to just tell me if there was something they needed doing but they said there wasn't! I had an hour of for lunch then so I sat in the staff room and read a magazine while I ate. After that I was with older toddlers who were playing outside. Most of them were occupying themselves and not really playing with anyone. The manager came over them and told me I could go home as they were overstaffed at that point. I don't really know why I was there at all really but I don't mind if I get some money for it!
To go back to the city I went to Carindale shopping centre first for a little while and then got a bus back. It was after half five by the time I came back. I didn't do much after that. There was noone home all evening either, don't know where they were!
