Day 97: 8/12/12
So today was the famous house party. I got up late enough and then just got ready and got a taxi to Shane's. It was about three when I got there and there were only a few others. They were a bit bothered that the crowd was slack. People started arriving in dribs and drabs and there was a great crowd by 6. They had hired some lad that sings in an Irish pub to sing and he was set up by the pool with a guitar and microphone and amp and everything! A bouncing castle arrived then- one in the shape of a boxing ring with big massive boxing gloves. Tadgh was one of the first people in it and got pushed out over the edge by a girl! They had two barbeques and they cooked a heap of sausages and burgers. One of the lads' sister-in-law made loads of salads and stuff to go with it and there were rolls to beat the band! They had an old fridge outside lying flat on the ground that they filled with ice and everyone could put their drink in there. For a while it looked like it would never be emptied! Next thing you could barely find any drink in it!! It just vanished! We spent most of the time just standing around chatting. I was talking to lots of different people, mostly hurlers, but spent most of the night chatting to Shane, Tadgh, Kilcoyne and some lad that was with him.
They had told the neighbours about the party and some came over for a look. Someone complained about the noise though and the cops came at about 12. There was no messy behaviour or anything so they just asked to keep the noise down. We moved inside then and there was a bit of a sing-song. The hurling manager has loads of songs- the transit van and the Viagra song included! Shane had to recite the poem he made up about the hurlers. He remembered it all and added a few different bits about people who were at the party and stuff! He's quite talented!!
I got awful tired round one in the morning and I snuck off to Shane's room for a lie down! I only intended to close my eyes for a few minutes and then head on out again but I woke up at four! A lot of the people had gone at that stage but there was still a sing-song going on. I waited a while but I was just too tired at that stage so I went home. It was about quarter to five when I got here. God only knows what time they went to sleep!!
