Day 27: 29/9/12
Had the breakfast in Mikes house this morning and then he brought me back to Shane's. We were going to go into the city later together to see a fireworks display so he waited for me to change and sort my stuff and then we went back to his house again. Everyone in Shane's house is gone to Perth anyway.
The AFL grand final was on today- Sydney v Hawthorn- so we watched that. It was all hyped up on the telly, so interesting to watch. We had to leave before the end but Sydney won.
Mike, Sean and I went into town then to see the fireworks- the riverfire festival. The bus in was eventful as it was wedged and he was flyin round corners so everyone was falling over!! There was a big loud bang where he hit a bump on the road or something, we were sure he was going to crash the thing! South bank, where the fireworks were going to be, was thronged with people and we were a long time waiting for them but they were class! First there were some hornets and helicopters flying over and then the fireworks started. The show was about 25minutes long. They had music playing throughout and fireworks and laser beams going off in time to the music. It was really cool! I took a video of it so may be able to put it up at some stage! Sean is in the video a few times as he was kind of in front of me. Mike was behind me and I think I just caught him on video, despite all his attempts to hide!!
Went into Queen street after and had dinner and a few drinks in O'Malleys. Had good Craic!! Afterwards we cued for a taxi home. A van taxi pulled up at one stage and about six people got out roaring and shouting about how terrible the driver was. One lad had cut his finger and there was blood all over his face. It was all a bit mad! The guy working at the taxi rank was getting very cross with them- kept us entertained anyway!
I got back to Shane's house alright, even though I'll have to figure out the route a bit better as the taxi driver was asking me where to go! There was confusion a he was Indian or something and didn't know what I was saying when I was spelling the name of the street for the sat nav. More drama when I got back then as there was a gate closed going into the house! It wasn't there earlier in the day so someone must have been home in the meantime. So I had to climb the gate- good job there was a wall I could stand on nearby! Can you imagine if the neighbours saw that! They'll probably see me tomorrow anyway as I may have to climb it again to get out!!
