Day 57: 29/10/12
Got a phone call bright and early at half six this morning to go to a school for the day! It gave me plenty of time to get there. I could get a bus aswell- it wasn't far away.
It was for year 3 and 4. I've had some combination of year 4 every day so far- I like that age. The teacher had work left but it was a lot of group work and stuff that didn't make much sense on the sheet, when I didn't know where the stuff was for the groups or who was in the groups. There was a student teacher in the class though which was brilliant as she knew where everything was! It was a grand day for me with her help!
A parent came in for an hour in the morning helping one group for maths and myself and the student teacher had a group each. We read a bit of their novel- Matty forever and had a worksheet to do on it, which didn't really make sense for the chapter at all, but we filled in something!! We had spelling Monday pre tests to do and then reading groups- which meant the kids got to read national geographic magazines! The class were going swimming then so myself and the other teacher had to bring them to the pool at the neighbouring school via bus. That waste half the day!
The kids were lovely. There were a few lively boys, but no major messing. The student teacher was getting very excited now and again if they weren't absolutely silent and then other times didn't seem to notice them! Most of the time there wasn't a bother on them!
I called in to the office on the way out and told them I'm free if they need anyone but don't know whether they will or not.
I got a bus back to town then and did some shopping- food and stuff for the house. When I got back I watched some tv for a while. The guy in the house came back late enough, then went for a run. He was watching tv then later when I was going to bed. He seems fine, but I doubt I'll see too much of him considering he wasn't home until nearly eight.
Hoping for lots of work this week- a call on a Monday morning was a good start!! Golden week here we come!
