Day 101: 12/12/12
I think according to someone somewhere the world was supposed to end today. Seen as I'm ahead of ye I can let ye know that ye are safe enough!!
No call this morning. I think this week is a write off for teaching! I remembered last night that when I joined the childcare agency I couldn't claim the tax free allowance (or whatever they call it) as I was getting one from the teaching. They had said I could change it for work during the holidays and change it back again then when school starts up again. So I figured I'd go into the agency and do that then so that any work I get over the next couple of weeks might be worth my while! I walked into town, signed the form, got some more time sheets and walked home again!
I had quite a lazy day at home. I spent a while on the Internet and watched tv. I watched some old film that was cute enough. I was also trying to look up trips to Ayers Rock as I think I might have to do that straight after New Zealand.
In the afternoon I went down to the basement to wash some clothes and I checked the post box while I was there. There was a slip in it for an attempted to delivery of a parcel! It must have been when I went into town as I was there the rest of the day! It said it would be available for collection tomorrow but I hope to do a big of work so I thought I mightn't be able to collect it. I tried ringing the post office to see if it was there but there was only an automatic machine. If was about twenty past four at this stage and it closes at five so I thought I'd chance that they might hdvd it. I got a taxi there as I wasn't sure where it was (it was a different place to the last one!) or if I'd make it by 5. I had to queue for ages and then he said he didn't have any parcels yet. Then he remembered they had just got in parcels from a few streets and mine was there!! He didn't ask for id or proof of address or anything. He just asked if I was Lorraine!
I didn't want to get another taxi so I walked back. It was about half an hour away. The box wasn't heavy bug was still hard to walk a distance with it! I managed it though!! When I was just outside my building the phone rang and it was Mike asking if I was free to go to dinner with him, Sean and Shane tomorrow evening to celebrate the birthday! It's Sean's last day aswell before he goes home for Christmas. So, that should be good Craic- I'm looking forward to that!
I eventually got the box inside anyway! I had great fun opening it and rooting around. The presents weren't wrapped so I felt I was allowed look at them! I got shoes, dresses, books, puzzles, chocolates, taytos, a comedian DVD and personalised whiskey (some to be shared!)! There were Santa hats and chocolates for Shane and Mike too. I rang Shell then to thank her and she was just going to school so we got to chat for a while. I was delighted with all my presents!
I didn't do much else for the evening. The presents were the highlight of the day!
