Day 93: 4/12/12
Today I was back in the school that I'd been in for the last two weeks. I was with 6/7. I'd come across some of them in Maths last week and felt they were cheeky enough! They go straight into Maths in the morning which means they mix up with other classes and there's no chance to call the roll or lay down a few rules! The teacher had work left involving them writing a speech after the Maths. They didnt do a tap! The fact that there's no classroom as such doesn't really help! I managed to keep them all quiet with the general illusion of work in the place! But I know for a fact they didnt do much!
The class had Italian, pe and performing arts one after another so I was sent to year 3/4. They had castles to finish drawing and the teacher thought we could do an Irish song so Ratlin Bog was out again! In the middle of that the principal came to see me as there were some boys that had been talking about me on the way back form Italian and obviously someone overheard them call me a name- tubbytits to be precise. She brought the boys in to apologise. The first thing she asked them was what my name was and the boy answered tubbytits! She wasn't impressed!! They had to write a letter of apology to me and she had them in the library for half a day. They wrote lovely letters but it didnt bother them in the slightest! We were with one of the other teachers in the evening making pizza bases and they didnt listen to a word she said!
Before the pizza they were supposed to have art with another teacher but she didnt have time. I sat them down near a computer and chatted about Ireland showing them the PowerPoint I put together for the other guys. They were very quiet as they seemed to be interested and four of them were in the library! If they got a chance to sit down during the day they might settle! All this coming and going has them driven mad!
The heat of course isn't helping! There's a heat wave at the moment. It wa supposedly 39degrees today. Anytime you stepped outside it was like a sauna. It was windy but it was just blowing hot air so it felt like standing in front of a heater! It was so bad the toilet seat was hot!! Thankfully Id no duty today! I didn't so much for the evening either as it was just too hot! It's supposedly record temperatures for December- how lucky the year I'm here!
