I took Laurie to get breakfast at Genius Baby.The chef was kind as always and served us both with a smile.I wasn't sure whether they would be ok with Laurie being there as I hadn't actually forewarned anybody.One thing I have discovered in China is that they don't cope too well with forward planning and it's better to just tell them what is happening as it happens, rather than ask them in advance!Lots of the teachers came into the kitchen to look at Laurie.I thought it was hilarious as some of the teachers who usually ignore me were making the effort to come and say "Hello" to me today, just so they could take a closer look at the foreign boy.

I had to give lessons at Flower Garden all day so I took Laurie to all the classes and asked him to give stickers to the children who got their activities right.They were fascinated by him and I made them say "Thank you Teacher" to him whenever he gave them a sticker.

Hong Yan asked me for lunch at her house but when I told her I had a friend with me she seemed to be less keen.She asked if the friend was a boy or a girl and when I said it's a boy she said we would have to meet in a restaurant instead.I wasn't entirely sure where we were supposed to be meeting her, but as we were walking through the yard a Chinese lady approached us and said she was Hong Yan's friend and pointed us in the right direction.It's so funny that messages can be passed on in this way, it's such a small community in the Crystal City yard and being foreign is so noticeable.

Hong Yan had brought a friend along with a baby, but not Liu Le Xuan.I gave Hong Yan a gift to give to her, and Laurie gave the baby a little Koala toy and also gave one to Hong Yan to give to Liu Le Xuan.We had a nice lunch and they ordered veggie options remembering that I am vegetarian.We tried a really good tofu dish as well as lots of different types of vegetables.Hong Yan gave me a note she had written in English saying goodbye and telling me to get a boyfriend soon!It's so funny how the Chinese worry about being married by their mid-twenties.

After lunch, Hong Yan invited us back to her apartmentI guess that Laurie must have been approved by her and her friend at dinner before being allowed to meet Liu Le Xuan!They made us a drink and we stayed for a little while talking to Liu Le Xuan but then Hong Yan had to go back to work so we said goodbye and left.

In the evening we went to Shush and Dean's flat for some drinks.My now popular Chinese Sangria had been requested so I got busy chopping fruit and mixing the drinks.Jack and Lilly were also there and we played some drinking games.Lilly got so drunk that she had to go to bed in the spare room and when I went in to say goodbye to her she asked me to marry her.Eventually after the drinks were finished and everyone was nicely drunk we headed to Lilly Coffee to meet Ruth, Mohamed and Alice.Shush and Dean had bought us a leaving cake, it was a giant Chinese sponge cake with a sheep made of icing on the top.I vaguely remember being dared to remove the sheep's head and eat it.There was a lot of vodka consumed so I don't remember much else!
