Not only was the bathroom still light broken, but all the power in the flat went off.I thought maybe it was a problem with the whole yard so I went to work but found the power was on there. Breakfast actually resembled a fried egg sandwich.Well, the eggs were kind of like fried eggs and there was also bread so I put the two together. It was a bit dry and I got some funny looks, but it was still pretty good. When I went back to my apartment I put the electricity card in the electricity meter. It said 'good' on the digital display and then the power was back.During the afternoon Poppy took her brother to the apartment to change the light bulb which I thought was really kind of them.
I was all geared up to have a good lesson with Punch-kid; I was armed with stickers and a positive attitude, but when I got to class he wasn't actually in.After class Miss Wang saw me and grabbed my arm and told me I had to speak to a foreign speaker. For a moment I thought maybe there was another foreign teacher, but it turned out to be the Headmasters Chinese son.His English name is Mike and he told me he has been studying in Singapore. His English was quite good and he spoke with a slight American accent. We talked for a little while but then I had to go to my next class.
I'd been promising to show the students at English Corner some pictures of my friends and family and I finally got around to showing them.Their responses were really lovely; they thought my mum was more than 5 years younger than she really is, they noticed my sister's hair was a different colour in every picture, and they thought my brother was really handsome.I also showed them some pictures of my friends and they said all my girlfriends were very beautiful. In China people usually live with their parents and only move out once they get married.I explained to them in England people do not usually live with their parents once they are in their twenties, but as it is expensive to live alone people often share a house or apartment with friends.I showed them my old flatmates and told them one of them may be coming to Liaocheng next year. The reaction was hilarious; the girls got very excited and cried out ""Please! We have never seen a real foreign boy before!"
