I'd invited Ruth to come and watch one of my classes so she could see how different it is to teaching her college students.During the lesson she witnessed them grabbing my leg, punching my bum, jumping up and down yelling at Bobo (the character on the computer programme) and just the general noise and chaos!

After class I asked her if she had mentioned getting a haircut during the class of hers which I had observed on Saturday.She said no.So I told her I think I had been dreaming about her standing at the front of the class, putting her hands in her hair and yelling "I need a haircut" to teach the kids about English culture or something!We're both finding our dreams are pretty strange since being in China, I guess it's just the minds way of dealing with the craziness all around.Unfortunately I then went on to tell her about the propeller man I had seen flying down the road and she told me that was probably a dream too, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't.

We went to the park and found another coffee shop called SPR Coffee, it was like a Starbucks, but it was run by Chinese people and the prices were double the price of Lilly Coffee.Strangely it sold beer cheaper than it sold coffee, so we sat in the Starbucks-style shop drinking beer.We walked back towards where I live and got dinner in one of the restaurants along my road.Then we went into the 24hr ATM because Ruth needed to get some cash.The machine swallowed her card and spat out a receipt!We stood there looking at it and started pushing buttons but nothing happened.Then a Chinese man came in to get some cash and she showed him the receipt and asked for help.Very kindly, he used his mobile to call the helpline on the cash machine and spoke to them in Chinese for ages, and then suddenly handed the phone to Ruth.He had managed to get put through to an English-speaking operator and they told her if she came back tomorrow she could get it back.We went back to my apartment and had a few beers while watching a movie.For the first time in about 5 years I am in possession of a TV and DVD player which came with the flat- it feels so wrong!!!
