I was still feeling quite ill, but Lilly got in touch asking if I would like to go shopping.She had said last night that she would help me bargain for a better price, so I decided to go.We met in town and then walked to an indoor market sort of place.She helped me to bargain and I got a few warmer tops ready for when it gets cold.When we left the shops I smelt something really sweet.I asked her what it was and she ran across the road and bought a bag of popcorn.We ate some as we were walking beside the canal and I told her it was really nice.She didn't realise that we can get popcorn in England too and I didn't have the heart to tell her because she seemed so excited that I liked it.

We stopped on a bridge to look at the water and she told me the canals had been built by an emperor because he had heard there were 'beauties' in the South of China.The purpose of the canals was to travel to the South to find these beautiful Chinese girls and bring them back to the North.I told her it was fascinating to think how many different types of boats and peoples this canal has seen in its history.She paused to think about this, and said it was a very interesting idea.I hope she didn't think I meant the water could actually see things.I meant it in more of an abstract sense than that!When we got to my bus stop I tried to give her the bag of popcorn but she told me she had bought it as a gift for me and she was really happy that I liked it.Later on she text me to tell me the weather report for Qingdao was sunny and she hoped I would have a good time.
