I had to get up early to collect my passport from Miss Wang.It felt good to finally have it back! Then I went back to bed.Ruth contacted me to say the other foreigners, Patrick, Dean and Shush, had invited us to meet them at a street barbeque this evening. The weather had turned to rain again but it seemed like a fun idea so we decided to go.I met Ruth and we waited in town for them to tell us where to meet them.We were waiting ages and starting to get very hungry. Then they called us and told us to get a taxi and their Chinese friend would tell the driver where to go.We got in the taxi, and it drove a little way along the road we were on, took a right, and then stopped. If we had known where the barbeque venue was we could have walked!!
We sat down outside under some canopies and had lots of really nice food. They even had some form of garlic bread on skewers which had been grilled. So good! And we had a few beers too which went down well. The guys told us some of their experiences as they have been in China for a lot longer than us.We didn't stay out too late as there was work tomorrow for most of us.The upcoming week has the Mid-Autumn Day holiday and two further days off (so that's Wednesday to Friday) and the Wednesday is the 'free' day off as it is the Moon Festival, but the Thursday and Friday have to be worked across two Sundays instead. It is a strange concept for a holiday- that you have to work back your days off!
