I was feeling really tired and when I got to Flower Garden I discovered the parents had been invited in to watch me teaching.Just what I needed! The parents sat behind their respective children and were fussing over them and some of them were even talking on their mobile phones. The children were not as co-operative as usual because their parents were being so distracting.
During my lunch break I did a lesson at Wanhuatong School. There are a few children there with hearing aids and other special needs.Whenever I try to speak to these kids and get them joining in, Sherry says something like 'he is deaf' or 'he is slow' and urges me to move onto the next kid. It's difficult to know what to do.I feel like I should give these children a bit more time and effort so they have the opportunity to learn some English too, but at the same time I don't want to spend so much time on them that the other kids start to get bored or disadvantaged.I was not given any training to cover these issues!I will just have to go with what feels right.
I received a text message from Miss Wang 'headmarster want we prepair the English children play. Please hurry to prepare.headmarster very worried about it'.I had already agreed with her that we would get ten of the children from the oldest age group class together on Monday to practice singing 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' and she'd said that was fine. What more do they want from me?!
