Today was the last day before our prosthetics finals over the next two days (we get a day each to apply our pieces), and it started with a demo on pushing hair into an appliance. It looked reasonably straight forward, but after having a go at it, I realised it was not. It wasn't until I'd painstakingly pushed individual hairs into my prosthetic, and cut off the excess, that I noticed they hadn't been poked through at the right angle. Now the eyebrows were ticking out at the wrong angle. This pissed me off!
I've since managed to sort of rearrange them, but they don't look too great. I'm hoping when it's on the face, and the character is complete, they won't notice so much. The trouble with prosthetics is that if you screw up, you need to either find a way to rectify the problem, or start again from scratch. I have no time to start again, so I'll do my best with what I've got. I'm gonna need a project to work on when I get back home and carry on practicing this stuff. I put a bit more colour-work in whilst watching a few films on the laptop. It's great having Kevin as a tutor, as he could give a running commentary on films like Big Trouble in Little China and The Thing. We had a bit of Kurt Russell day...
