Woke up early today having had plenty of sleep, and checked to see what was going on with the replacement venue/lineup/times etc. for today's event. Even though I'd only bought a ticket for yesterday, I was hoping there'd be something offering all customers a chance to come back today at no extra cost. Well, there was…
The show had been moved to Fullerton. This is about an hour's drive from where I live. I don't have a car. A bus/train/walking combination would take over 2 hours. I posted on the Facebook to see if anyone was going from my area, and I actually got a response from someone who was working the food stall, saying they could possibly give me a lift to one of the shows today. That's right. There were going to be two sets from 4 bands. One lot at 2pm, and another at 7:30pm. Oh, and one of the 4 bands, 'Rattus', are from Finland and need to fly home, so they won't be playing a second set! It got to 1pm and I decided I wasn't going to bother, as it'd be cool to make the effort to go see these bands, but when it's so far out of the way, and there's a possibility there' be no room, is there really any point. Especially, if I didn't get in. The 'venue' (some rehearsal studio) apparently holds a maximum of about 150 people. But 800 tickets were sold over the two days. Shambles! But at least the promoter's tried something to rectify the situation I guess. I feel sorry for all the people that had travelled from Nevada and further for this show. Like me.
I spoke with Alex from school who'd mentioned there was some kind of Italian type festival thingy going on up at Hollywood, so I went there to meet here, hoping to try out some Italian beers and food etc. It was pretty s***. It was basically a kiddie's fairground, with some mafia-influenced bands playing (bad ones; I'm sure one of them was supposed to be a 30 year old Frank Sinatra), some Italian bread (including pizza), and the choice of Budweiser, Sangria or generic 'wine'. You can work out for yourself what's wrong with that last part.
We decided to go to the Five-0-Four, New Orleans bar, because you can smoke at the bar, and stayed there the remainder of the night, drinking Stella. Well, even that's closer to italy than Bud is.
Character class starts tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to. I think this week, we're learning how to make people look old. Could be interesting…
(The reason for the photo is that I've walked over it so many times now, and I haven't even noticed it was there. I feel it's worthy to be the day's picture based purely on it's existence)
