Got up early, mainly to find out to watch the Blackburn game (although the internet was being gash, so had random updates throughout the game), and pounced another lift off the folks, who'd decided to take us up to Universal Studios. I think this was more for their enjoyment than mine. Big kids.
Kicked off the park with the Backlot Tour including the new King King 3D experience/ride thing, which was brilliant. 3D is overused now. I'd rather watch something without flinching or feeling sick all the time, but this was really well done. There's not a huge number of rides at this park, focussing more on the films and effects, which is much more relaxing. This also meant that all three of us could go on things without one of us saying "I'll look after the bags. My fun, is watching you have fun". Standouts were The Simpsons Ride (which I think replaced the old Back to the Future ride), and of course Terminator 2: 3D (yeah, I know, 3D again, but it's Terminator 2, and it's f***ing brilliant).
As the park prepares for the Halloween Horror nights, we left a bit early to beat the traffic. Didn't matter as we'd done everything anyway. It was still a bit early so they took me back to their hotel in Santa Monica. I think this was to rub it in that they had televisions. That's right. Plural. One in the lounge, and one in the bedroom. Compared to my bed/desk/chair/cupboard/fridge combo in a box, it was extremely swanky.
After walking around for a bit (it's very nice out there), we conveniently found and English Shoppe and a King's Head. It was great to find some Ginger Crunch creams, a Beef & Tomato Pot Noodle, and a pack of Pickled Onion Monster Munch. The last of these items reminds me of Karl Pilkington in An Idiot Abroad. Not far off either really. The food in the pub was brilliant too. I'll be making a journey out there again for supplies.
After a manic cab ride back to my place (exiting the slip road at 76 was a bit gnarly), I was once again knackered, so hit the sack. Prosthetics kicks off tomorrow morning.
