Had a bit of an early night last night, so was more awake than yesterday morning, despite me being half-cooked through the night. There's a bt of a heatwave at the moment.
The lesson's are continuing from the previous day due to the extended hours this week, so we cracked straight on with our 1920's makeup and it was my application to Jodie. I was dreadful. I forgot everything from yesterday and wasn't concentrating properly. I eventually got to a stage I was happy with and settled for it. I probably shouldn't have done, as I need the practice, but only really if I want to become a beauty/high fashion photographic makeup artist, which luckily, I don't. Still, we have an exam on Friday for this week's stuff so I should probably pay more attention or I may not go through to next week… I will probably get let through anyway though. I think Arthur will probably pass too…
There was then a demonstration of the 1950's style of makeup (used in movies; not what the working class would wear to go pick up their rations), just before lunch.
After lunch, we started again with our new partners trying to replicate the style. I had my go, and then Melissa had hers. Yet again, my partner's application was better than mine. I've started realising that every person that gets me or Arthur for a day has pulled a short straw, as they're hardly likely to use a photo of either of us in women's makeup for their portfolio, especially when it's my face in it.
Anyway, the day was over and I was hungry so rather than go to the Novel for the usual (they've started asking if I want the usual…), I decided to head up to Universal City, without any real plans other than to mooch around and see what's going on. It's very tourist-orientated.
I got there and it turned out that Def Leppard were playing with Heart in the huge amphitheatre that's there!!
…so I went to the Hard Rock Cafe instead.
As I was leaving, I noticed that there was a cinema and that I'd just be able to catch the start of 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes', and seeing as I wanted to see it but hadn't yet, I chose to do just that. I really enjoyed it, and liked the references to the originals (Tim Burton's excluded)
Stopped off at the bar underneath the 'Gaylord' (the apartments I should add, not just a reference to the king of the gays) for a quick beer, and came home. More Spaced (again). Bed.
