Not a lot to report on today. I'd already done my sketch the other night so was fully prepared. It involved a lot of brown. A kind of 'steampunk' type feel based on a Vivienne Westwood look I found through Google… and may have slightly 'borrowed'. The demonstration this morning was based on an avant-garde look, and we'd have to create our own later on.
I was with Yasuko again today, and she was probably a bit annoyed at having to have make-up applied to her twice in quick succession, as she was the model for this morning's demonstration as well. Nevertheless, I got on with it and managed to do something I was pleased with, and more to the point, Mireille was happy with it too.
Yasuko applied her make-up idea to my face after lunch, which was extremely avant-garde. I'll get the photos from the school soon and stick them up. The photo here is the demo Mireille did. It's just this is the only photo I took today, so decided to use that for the blog.
Got home and researched and sketched my idea for the exam tomorrow; a make-up that's been influenced by history, and utilise it to advertise some kind of product we'd need to take in. I went for what I felt would be easiest and did the late 60's/70's, heavily influenced by Sophia Loren. I dunno what product to take though. Let's see how it goes.
Victor was heading back to Hong Kong straight after class tomorrow, as his special effects course is complete, so we met up for a few beers near where I used to live. It's made me realise how bad some of the area is around there. It's just all of a sudden, one road over is full of 'Spanish-y' types from all over, all trying to flog you their wares, usually taco's, or just begging for a cigarette or money. Don't get that so much around here. Went to the LA Live/Club Nokia area though, which is a nice part of downtown.
After a few beers and some Buffalo wings, (which were very tasty I should add), we said our good-byes and bid him farewell. He's actually a teacher in the make-up area already, and has school first thing Monday, so good luck to him getting over the jet lag in time.
Tomorrow will more than likely be a bit more interesting. Exams and a show.
