Today we'd be applying 60's, 70's or 80's makeups, so the day kicked off with a demonstration. It was very long. A lot of us started dozing off, mainly because these long days are taking their toll. I was paired with Manya today and chose to attempt the 60's. this may not have been a great idea, as there is a hell of a lot of gel eyeliner involved, and my shaky hands were struggling to get straight lines. Nevertheless, I ended up with something reasonable and my model seemed happy with her retro look.
Next up, Manya could get her revenge and went with the 'Twiggy' look of the 60's as well. I'd discover later that this would include some hairstyling. She did a great job. I did maybe look like a tranny though.
We were told that we'd have exams tomorrow, just as we did last week, and that we'd have to create a beauty makeup, much like in the first two weeks. This would involve more research tonight, to prepare for the practical tomorrow, as well as revising what we'd been taught previously. I had however booked a ticket to Agnostic Front at the Key Club during the day, which seemed somewhat more enticing.
I kicked off the evening by watching the New Orleans Saints lose convincingly to the Green Bay Packers with Vicki (a die hard Saints fan from New Orleans). American Football is still a sport I can't get into. Too many adverts. Too much stopping. Give me soccer any day.
After the game, she kindly dropped me off at Rainbow Bar & Grill, a metal/rock bar where a ton of rockstars are supposed to hang out. I'm told Lemmy of Motorhead is there frequently, always playing the arcade video games, but he wasn't there tonight. Actually, I didn't see anyone there. I bumped into Liam though, the English guy from the other night, and headed across the road to the show.
Liam seemed to know most of the staff and started showing me around the venue, including the exclusive upstairs area. A much better view. Agnostic Front were brilliant, and kicked off the gig by playing the Victim in Pain album in it's entirety, front to back. Was great to see a proper hardcore show, and in a decent venue too.
It was suggested that we head out to another bar after the show. This actually meant another few bars. I was having a great time, but it hit me that we have exams the next day, so headed back to my room. I'll have to wing it...
