School today was focussed on using our previously created pieces on each other, trying to perfect our colours and blending edges into the skin. Sounds easy, doesn't it. I didn't get time to apply a gelatine piece yesterday, so I got straight into giving Chanel a 'witches nose'. I wasn't entirely happy with my blended edges, but I think I did a pretty good colour job on it. The way I see it, is if I get everything right first time, I won't have learnt anything. If I make mistakes, I know what to do for next time. Potentially.
Time for lunch. I fancied a burrito from the taco truck opposite the school but for some reason, it wasn't there. I got another Subway, and came to the conclusion that no matter what you say, they won't listen. EVERY time they ask if I want lettuce and tomato in my BLT. Well obviously. This frustrated me even mroe when the taco trck reappered on my trip back to school. b*****.
I managed to get a half decent edge on a silicone piece I applied to Crystal, and rather than deciding to just cake the thing in blood, I first practiced getting the skin colouring right. This was just for my benefit. I then caked the thing in blood, playing with some different bloods I'd picked up at the make-up store. I'm going back there on Saturday, so I think I'm gonna pick up a few more different types. Customs will be pleased.
I then had time to figure out how this sculpt was going to work as it need to be ready for Monday. I'm really not happy with it at the moment. The objective is to creative small prosthetics to apply to our models face. I've taken a huge risk and decided to attempt an old age prosthetic, which I've been told is extremely challenging. Lee and Carlton both offered some useful suggestions on how I could/should alter it, so I've taken this on board and will hopefully finish it over the weekend.
I decided to check out season one of Face-Off, having been to the finale of season two last week. It's interesting to see the contestant's makeups, but it's a bit like every other reality show. Lots of b****ing about each other. Interesting to see Gage Hubbard in it though, as he's a previous student of CMS. Who knows. I've not even been doing make-up and special effects a year, and I've learnt so much.
