Had a rough night's sleep last night, so wasn't feeling fantastic today, and I can't use beer as an excuse. Just run down I think.
Anyway, school would run until 5:30 every night this week to catch up on yesterday's Colombus day-off malarkey. At least this week would be much more fun though… Injuries, wounds, tattoos and junkie-making!
The tutor for this week will be Carlton, a previous student of CMS who's worked on a whole bunch of things*. There was a brief demo or two this morning on how to apply tattoos (make-up versions obviously), before we attempted our own. For the first time in 8 weeks, I was paired with Cris. I've now been paired with everyone in our class. Being the gentleman I am, I let her go first. Also, I was still pretty tired.
She did a great job of giving me the traditional "serpent-wrapped-around-a-rose-wrapped-around-a-dagger" tattoo (the generic tattoo designs were rather naff, but they were good for practicing with. I then applied an eagle design (as you can see in the photo) that Cris had chosen for me. I later found out that it's one of the hardest ones available to attempt. I was halfway through so managed to finish it and was pretty chuffed with the results.
After lunch there was a quick demo on black-eyes, which we then took it in turns to try for ourselves. Mon didn't have a partner for today, so both Cris and her were 'attacking' an eyeball of mine each. A few bizarre facial expressions later, and I looked like I'd said a few badly judged sexist comments at the women's expo everyone just attended. Battered!
I gave Cris a black eye, mainly because she refused to have my dinner ready on time**, and we were left with a few other tips before we got to play around with different effects. This was great, as we had more freedom to mess around working on different areas.
I popped to the Novel after school for a quick one (which turned into three), got back for dinner, and spent the rest of the evening watching the second series of Arrested Development.
*Carlton mentioned he'd just finished life-casting Tom Hardy for the 'Bane' costume he'd be wearing in 'The Dark Knight Rises'… Awesome!
**This is false information. It was just make-up. Honest...
