Today kicked off the first of four weeks of prosthetics creation and application. I'd been looking forward to these in these last four weeks of lessons the most, so was eager to get underway. First off we'd be creating a 3/4 life-cast of our face and the top of our chest. As we're only making prosthetics for the face, we don't need any more than that. There was a demonstration on Ami before we cracked on with our own. I was being life-casted first by Chanel and Crystal, with the assistance of Ami who'd already been done, and we'd switch round once each person was done. I wish they'd have told me they'd written stuff on my cast, as I missed my opportunity to draw cartoon penises all over theirs, kind of like secondary school art lessons… well, any lessons really.
We then had to fill the mould of our faces so we'd have something to sculpt onto. After a quick demo on how to fill the cast with a special cement and burlap, we spent the rest of the afternoon creating ours, before leaving it to set overnight, and ready to start sculpting on tomorrow.
It was my folks last full night out here, so I met up with them at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood for some dinner and a few beers. The night was still fairly young, and I eventually persuaded them to both come back my way to try out the Novel. I think they liked it. Whilst they waited for their taxi, one of the barmen (Pete) told them I wasn't any trouble, and I was a reliable regular. Said yet more goodbyes and I'll see them in a couple of months. It's been nice to catch up with them in a totally different environment. Strange to think I've not got long left here….
