So this week, we'd be moving on to old age. I'm certain a lot of the girls were apprehensive about being aged, bearing in mind they'd be seeing themselves at least ten years down the line.
Bradley Look (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0519637), an emmy award winner in make-up for his work on some of the Star Trek series, is our tutor for the week, and will be making us look old all week. He demonstrated how to use shading and highlights to create the aged, droopy effects that generally occur in later life.
After lunch it was our turns. I kindly let Elaina make me look old first, and I had my attempt straight after. I wasn't entirely happy with the result, but i think I've learnt from my mistakes, so hopefully tomorrow will go better. We've got homework for tomorrow, which is to research pictures of elderly people for reference use, as well as some reading to do. Finger's crossed it'll help me get a better understanding of the end result I should be aiming for.
I stuck some washing on and watched a DVD I'd just ordered. It's an in depth, step by-step presentation and tutorial on creating the perfect bald cap. Very handy for when I do my next one.
Ventured out again searching for something interesting to do, and once again, settled on the pictures, and saw '50/50'.
I personally think it's a great film. It's a 50% comedy, 50% tearjerker, dealing with the delicate topic of cancer. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is superb as a young man dealing with his illness, and Seth Rogen is actually very bearable (I've often found him irritating). There were some really emotional moments that had the entire audience gripped, not once delving into their popcorn or generally being a nuisance to my ears. I strongly advise you see it.
