Can't believe I've been here for 50 days. It's flown by.
There was a quick demonstration on a technique on how to put the hair up using hardly any product, then we got straight down to our latex bald cap applications. This would be my second attempt, and hoped that my bald cap I'd prepared last night would be good enough for today. Mike reckoned it looked pretty good, so I was in with a chance.
After faffing around with Manya's hair for a while, trying to get it to stay up whilst I put the cap on, I managed to get a pretty decent bald-cap going. It stuck down in the right places, bar the back of the head. Not too sure why this was, as there was plenty of solvent there. Apparently, it doesn't stick if there's still alcohol in the system, so that may have been the case. Still, I carried on sorting out the edges and working on getting some decent colour onto it. Overall, I was much happier with today's attempt than yesterday's. I think by the end of the day, everyone was much less frustrated than yesterday.
Manya's attempt on me was, in my opinion, excellent. She'd managed to get all of it to stick down, next to no edges, and managed a decent skin-tone too. My alcohol must have seeped out duing the morning. It looks pretty weird being bald, but I think it might suit me.
After school had finished, I got home and attempted to shower off the remainder of the latex and glue that is bloody hard to remove. Plus, it really makes the skin raw. Still, only a few more month of it. We'd ben given the choice of using a homemade-latex cap or pre-made vinyl cap tomorrow for the exam, but I decided to make a latex one, a) to practice making them, despite the fact they're hardly ever used in the industry nowadays, and b) so I had the choice depending on my mood tomorrow. Again, I think it's pretty good, probably better than last nights build.
Cody had invited me to the set of a TV show he's a lighting technician for on Fox, so I headed up to go meet him. It's for a new series due to air this January called 'The Finder' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1943524/), a spin off from 'Bones'. It was being filmed in a nightclub, and I think it was one of the endings to the 5th episode of the series. Looked pretty good. Can't give too much away, but the gunshots were extremely loud! It was great to watch the cast and crew on set, and fascinating to watch what the make-up artists were doing in between takes. I stayed for around an hour and a half, and must have watched a total of about 3 minutes worth of episode, so I have no idea what's going on. Cody had been there for thirteen hours already, so I'm guessing he was pretty knackered.
Hopefully my exam will go well tomorrow, then I'm off to the Universal Hallowe'en thingy with some classmates to check out the mazes, and a*******s jumping out at you. Apparently, there's one based on the new 'The Thing' movie… Exciting times!
