Today was all about the different degrees of burns. There were a couple of burn demos to get us started, a latex application down Mon's arm, and we were introduced to a gelatine burn on Cris' face. Both were totally convincing. Then it was our turn.
I started my application first today, and gave Ami some extreme sunburn, much like I had a few years ago after 'Hellfest'. She's apparently never had sunburn before, so has no idea what it feels like. Lucky cow! I gave her the typical sunglasses tan line, and then proper blistered the back of her neck and upper back. I didn't bother using gelatine just yet, as I wanted to try it out with a different look later on. Ami then had her go, caking my arm in gelatine and making look extremely infected. Looked good though.
There was then a brief demo on me (again) of a junky make-up. This looked amazingly realistic. I wouldn't advise becoming a junky if you like your face. To end the extra long day (making up for the lost hours on Monday), I applied a load of gelatine to Ami's face to represent some kind of liquid burn. It looked OK, if a bit 'Incredible Melting Man'/'Robocop' ending-esque, and could have done with a bit more attention to detail, but I think I got some decent colouring and shading in there. When it was being photographed, Lee made some critical suggestions on how to make it look more 'anatomically correct', which was very useful. Next time, I'll have a better idea.
I managed to shower most of the gelatine crap off my arm before going out to meet with these old people from back home. I met up with them at Hollywood/Vine and took them for a walk down Hollywood Boulevard, to take in all the interesting sights and sounds. The sound of tattoo guns, tramps yelling at fire hydrant's, the multitude of tacky Hollywood merchandise shops, and even a Showgirls strip joint, featuring "1000 attractive girls and 3 ugly ones"… one of the three of us wasn't even remotely interested in checking this out… We eventually ended up in a nice restaurant called 'Lucky Devils' where I ate yet another steak, and got chatting to some Australian holidaymakers.
After a lengthy chat to the Aussies, I showed my people to the Blue Boar (another English bar) before again parting ways and bidding farewell. Exams tomorrow, so I better get my thinking cap on...
