Second day of injury week kicked off with a couple of demonstrations on me. For the past few weeks I've ended up being a model, and no doubt for next week's beard-laying, I'll be a model once again. We were introduced to a material called 3rd degree, a two-part silicone that when mixed together, can be sculpted directly onto the skin to create all kinds of injuries, including lacerations and gunshot trauma that were performed on me. I've used a similar material before called Sculptgel, but they're both as good as one another. I always seemed to have trouble smoothing out the edges and working quickly before the silicone set, so it's good to get a bit more advice on what I might be doing wrong.
Chanel then replicated Carlton's demonstration on me, so I had matching lacerations and entry wounds on both arms, as well as some leftover tattoo from Cris' application yesterday. I had washed, it was just a bit stubborn. We swapped over, and I shot Chanel in the neck, whilst on her motorcycle, forcing her to fall off and slit her face on a piece of sharp debris on the ground, also leaving her some road rash. This was the story we'd concocted to go with the make-up anyway. I should probably aim to do it the other way round, working from a storyline first.
After lunch, we swapped back over and spent some time getting used to the 3rd degree silicone. This was great, as it gave us time to play around with different ideas. Going by some stock images I'd googled to my iPhone, I started attempting to imitate some of the real wounds. This will be very useful for the future, and has helped build up my 'morgue' of photographic reference material too.
I'd got a text to meet up with some people from back home after school, so after a couple of beers in the Novel, went to meet them, and decided to take them to the Cat & Fiddle, just to eat them into Hollywood. It was nice to have a catch up, however it seems as though sod all has happened since I moved here so not much gossip, . They were pretty tired after the long haul flight, and also they're getting on a bit now, so after introducing them to Amoeba Music*, we parted ways and I will more than likely see them a few more times before they leave.
*One of them was excited to find a rare imported Gilbert O'Sullivan CD, but when they noticed the price was in excess of $40, they rapidly changed their mind.
