After a pleasant breakfast, as it was sunny and I had a couple of hours to kill, I went for a little stroll around the very pretty, extensive and hilly Kelvingrove Park. Lovely.
Then I popped back to the hotel for a quick change before embarking upon the riverside walk to the Emirates Arena for the Davis Cup.
As last year, the pre-match entertainment was provided by the excellent Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Thet were followed by the Opening Ceremony, then it was down to business.
A mouthwatering start to the tie with Andy Murray taking on the resurgent-after-coming-back-from-major-wrist-injury Juan Martin del Potro - and a repeat of the gruelling Olympic Final. This match had the potential to set the tone for the tie, so we were hoping for a repeat of the Olympic result. So, how did it pan out?...
It turned out to be an intensley epic encounter as both players gave their all and played some fantastic tennis. The five set match lasted over 5 hours, but ultimately it was Argentina that took a 1-0 lead.
The next match pitched Kyle Edmund against Guido Pella. Edmund started well but Guido triumphed in four sets. It was an entertaining match, though had no chance of being as great as the first, but Edmund just couldn't quite bring his A Game consistently to bear.
So, we now have to win the remaining three matches - a tall order indeed. Although it's looking like we will ultimately lose the tie, that first match definitely rates as one of the best I've ever seen.
It was almost 10pm when the tennis finished, so on the walk back to the hotel I bought me some lovely, proper chip shop chips from a chip shop.
