After a comfortable night in the B&B, most of our clothes had dried and we headed west along the coast to Pevensey Castle.
Substantial remains of the old walls of the Roman fort surround the remains of a Norman Castle. This is also the location where William of Normandy / William The Conqueror / William I landed with his ultimately successful invasion fort.
We both enjoyed the interesting free audio tour as we explored the castle.
The it was time to head home, but on the way we briefly stopped at Uppark House. Being NT members, we were able to use this as a handy pit stop in a pleasant place without paying. As well as a quick wander around, the GS and I had a fun kickk about on the East Lawn.
I delivered the GS home at 17:40, where his Mum had prepared a lovely meal of Toad in the Hole followed by pancakes!
