I took the GS out for a couple of days, the main purpose being to visit Bletchley Park.
On the way we stopped off for a leg-stretch at the Rollright Stones. This is an ancient stone circle consisting of three groupings. Standing alone, and across the road from the others, supervising all is The King Stone - illustrating the isolating burden of rule. Below him is a circle of The King's Men. Separately from them are The Whispering Knights - but what is it that they're whispering about? Are they conspiring against The King? He will have to keep his eye on them!
Meanwhile, as well as enjoying the setting of the Stones, my GS and I had a bit of a practice session with his new boomerang.
Our next stop was a combined Chinese/Chip Shop in Deddington, where GS tucked into Crispy Duck while I munched on a battered sausage.
Arriving at Bletchley, it was apparant that a lot of work had been put into the sight to add many exciting features which brought to life the site of the WWII codebreakers. The GS particularly enjoyed the interactive features, including one that highlighted how sophisticated the Enigma coding was but the addition of extra rotors etc.
We then made our way to our home for the night - the Best Western at Broughton on the edge of Milton Keynes. We popped into the attached Hungry Horse where my GS enjoyed a waffle burger and I had a normal one.
The next day, after a lovely breakfast, we called into Stowe Landscape Gardens, and enjoyed a few hours wandering around the park, admiring the lovely views. We were lucky with the weather as we seemed to continuely threatened by dark cloudes but suffered no more than a brief light shower. We were also able to play more with the boomerang!
Then it was time to head for home.
