A Herbert's Travels
Allowed out on my own today, the weather was nice enough to drop the roof down and drive to one of my favourite secluded spots, in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains in West Wales.
Avoiding motorways and main roads where possible, I drove via Hay-on-Wye and Builth Wells to Beulah, from where I followed the pass via Abergwesyn that crosses the mountains to Tregaron. Halfway along I stopped off for a light picnic lunch before exploring a small part of the area on foot. From Tregaron, I then headed south before turning for home along the A40. Usually I take the opportunity to drive across the Brecon Beacons a couple of times between the A40 and Heads of The Valleys road, but it was getting late and I wanted to get to Ross for tea at Burger Star, where I enjoyed a Giant Star (halfpounder) with cheese and bacon, potato wedges and chocolate shake - mmmmm! Despite the driving, a relaxing day on my own.- comments
