Today my GS and I headed down to Battle for the 950th anniversary celebrations of the Battle of Hastings.
At the celebrations, The GS particularly enjoyed having a go at the archery - which was one in the eye for Harold! He also enjoyed a boar burger while I tucked into a venison burger.
After the celebrations, we made for one of my all time favourite castles where as a child my love for castles and history was cemented. That castle was Bodiam, a square castle built in the middle of a lake. The GS also had another opportunity to practise his archery. As we left it started raining.
We then made for our the Rutland B&B in St on sea. After checking in we walked alon the very windy front to Hastings for a Nepalese meal at Chef Ghurka, which we both enjoyed.
The plan was to watch the parade and fireworks taking place to commemorate the battle. Howleft ever, at this point a deluge ensued which combined with the strongg winds ensured we were soaked to the bone. So we made our way back to the B&B to dry out and enjoy a hot chocolate before bed.
