What a fantastic day of tennis as the Davis Cup Semi-Final between GB and Australia got underway in Glasgow.
But before all that, I had an important task to perform. With Muse tickets going on sale, I managed to secure some for their Manchester gig next April.
Then it was time to leave for the Emirates Arena, a 70 minute walk away, most of which was alongside the Clyde.
Inside the arena, the atmosphere was fantastic. The pre-match entertainment was an exclusive performance by the one and only Red Hot Chilli Pipers, a 7 piece consisting of 3 pipers, 2 drummers, guitarist and a keyboardist, and they made a jolly good noise.
This was followed by the presentation/opening ceremony. Then we got underway worth the first match between Andy Murray and 19 year old Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Murray piled on the pressure from the off, but Kokkinakis managed to save break points in his first two service games. Then in the 6th game Murray made the breakthrough and the Australian's resistance crumbled as Murray won 6-3, 6-0, 6-3.
After a short break, it was time for world number 300 Dan Evans to take on the world number 32, Bernard Tomic.
Tomic got off to great start and rushed to take the first set. The writing looked to be on the wall when Evans was immediately broken at the start of the second set. However, Evans is a fighter and forced a tie break, which Tomic won to take a 2 set lead, leaving Evans with a mountain to climb.
The mountain soon looked even bigger as Tomic forced an early break in the third set, but Evans fought back again and this time took the set on another tie break.
Going into the fourth set, it was important to keep the momentum going. Unfortunately, Tomic took the bull by the horns and was soon serving for the match at 5-2. Evans was not finished yet and broke back before holding his serve to take the score to 5-4. This time though, Tomic served out the match to even the tie.
Tomorrow's doubles is crucial and is bound to be another amazing atmosphere.
