Tonight was a gig I'd been looking forward to for a long time. For me, Everything Everything are the band of the year and their third outing, Get To Heaven, will prove to be a classic.
After popping along to The Stable on the Harbourside for a Portishead Piggy Pizza, consisting of lashings of cheese and bacon, I made my way to the O2 Academy an djoined the queue 30 mins before the doors opened.
The support was provided by 18 year old singer / songwriter / guitarist Will Joseph Cook (I don't know, will he?) A self assured performance shows that this talented lad could have a great future. Having signed up for his mailing list, I received a free CD.
Then it was time for the main event as EE took the stage and provided a fantastic performance from a band who are on top form. Their latest album is a perfect example of bringing sophisticaton and ambition back into pop, while tackling difficult subjects in the lyrics, and they reproduced it perfectly on stage.
